Our planters are semi-water-tight, similar to terracotta or unglazed ceramic pots. Unless a design specifically states otherwise, they aren’t made to hold water long-term. The porous nature of the material means they can hold runoff from a nursery pot or be used for bottom watering, but it’s best to empty any standing water afterward—given enough time, moisture can seep through. This also helps keep your plants healthy, since sitting in excess water can lead to root rot, mold, or fungus gnats!

Absolutely! Our planters are made of PLA (Polylactic Acid) which is a biodegradable and environmentally friendly material that is resistant to UV radiation and moisture. While PLA is indeed biodegradable and environmentally friendly, it has a relatively low melting point compared to some other plastics. In extremely high temperatures, such as those found in direct sunlight on a hot day, PLA can soften or deform. Therefore, while our PLA planters are suitable for outdoor use, it’s advisable to place them in areas where they won’t be exposed to prolonged direct sunlight or extreme heat.
Absolutely! We’d be happy to customize one of our existing planters to fit your nursery pot perfectly. To ensure a precise fit, please provide us with the width of the opening and the height of the pot. You can send us these measurements via chat or email at hileafprints@leafprints3d.com, along with the name or model of the planter you’d like to resize. Our design team will work their magic to adjust the dimensions accordingly, creating a seamless fit for your existing pot. We’re here to make sure your plants look their best in our planters!

Our planters are crafted from PLA, an environmentally friendly material derived from renewable resources like cornstarch or sugarcane. Unlike traditional materials such as ceramic or cement, PLA offers a sustainable alternative that reduces environmental impact. PLA planters are compostable and break down naturally over time, contributing to a greener planet. Additionally, they are lightweight, versatile, and boast excellent moisture retention properties, making them ideal for promoting healthy plant growth while minimizing watering needs. With our PLA planters, you can showcase your plants with style and conscience.
At Leafprints.3d, sustainability is at the core of our operations. From using biodegradable PLA materials to reducing packaging waste and repurposing resources, we’re committed to eco-friendly practices. We recycle all our PLA scraps, use recyclable filament spools, and strive to minimize our electronic waste by purchasing used equipment. We also aim to reduce transportation emissions by operating locally and working toward in-house PET bottle recycling and solar power integration.

At Leafprints.3d, we can print items up to 11.8″ x 11.8″ x 11.8″ in size, thanks to our Creality Ender 3 v3 KEs and the Creality K1 Max on our print farm. This range allows us to create everything from small, intricate designs to larger planters and home accessories.
We’re also committed to sustainability in our production process. Whenever possible, we purchase refurbished equipment to help reduce our environmental impact. This approach aligns with our focus on eco-friendliness while ensuring high-quality prints for every project.
Plastic is a broad term encompassing various synthetic materials, while PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a specific type of bioplastic derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugarcane. Unlike traditional plastics, PLA is biodegradable and more environmentally friendly. Additionally, PLA has a lower melting point and is commonly used in 3D printing due to its ease of use and biodegradable nature.
